WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHER ARE YOU? Words that people use to describe my work are natural, colorful, dramatic, organic, real. I direct you in order to capture natural images that you will treasure for years to come. These images can be displayed around your home as wall art, or printed in a beautiful album. This is a visual inheritance for your family. I do my best to get a range of images.
WHAT KIND OF SESSIONS DO YOU OFFER? I offer Lifestyle Portrait Sessions. Lifestyle portrait sessions last about an hour, and you are directed in the best light, to create moments of connection.
WHERE WILL MY SESSION BE HELD? I am an on location photographer primarily. Alaska has the most beautiful backgrounds. I do have a small indoor studio that I can use for families of 3 or smaller. It’s more of a modern look, and I do not use props. We can also do families in your home, as long as the light is sufficient enough. Together we will choose the perfect location for your session. Newborn sessions are held at your home or in the hospital right after birth.
WHEN DO NEWBORN SESSIONS OCCUR? I like to do newborn sessions within the first two weeks of life.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? Be comfortable, and be you. Pick a few colors that work well together and stick to those. Accessorize with scarves, a hat, ect. Please be careful of the jewelry you choose. Stay away from necklaces that can twist or flip over. Stay away from clothing with characters, logos, neon colors or seersucker.
WILL I GET MY DIGITAL PHOTOS AFTER THE SHOOT? Well, that depends on what you want to purchase. I sell products a la cart, or I have a couple of collections that have digital files. I have clients that purchase everything from gallery wraps, prints, digital files and an album. Every family is different, and has different wants. You don’t have to decide what you want before the photo-shoot. When you come to see the slideshow you will order your products. Just know that photographs value increases over time. They become family history and treasures. I highly recommend professional printed family albums. I have had clients that ended up buying the digital files and never printed the images, or after their family has grown, wants to change the canvas on the wall and doesn’t know what to do with the old canvas. Albums are the perfect way of preserving all of your photographs, and have them professionally and correctly printed.
WHEN, HOW AND WHERE CAN I SEE THE PHOTOS AND PRODUCTS? At the end of the photo session, we will set up a time for you to come to my home studio set up for approximately 2 weeks after the session. While there you will watch a slideshow of your images, and you will place your order.
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHICH IMAGES IN MY GALLERY FROM OUR SHOOT? I take a myriad of images at the session, and pick the best images. I look for photos capture you as a family, in focus, and beautiful. I like to create galleries that have different compositions, lighting, and poses.
HOW FAR OUT ARE YOU BOOKED? I typically book two weeks to three months in advance. It just depends if I have an opening. If you are interested in newborn portraits, please try to inquire with me while you are pregnant. Already had the baby? No problem. I leave weekday sessions open for newborns. Please contact me.
DO YOU OFFER MINI-SESSIONS? No I do not; mini-sessions do not work with my style. I aim to get a whole range of images, and I am not after getting one perfect shot of everyone smiling at the camera. Instead I aim to get a bunch of images that show who your family is.
HOW MUCH DOES ALL OF THIS COST? I offer a range of products. Everything from prints, canvas, albums, and digital files. I have a sitting fee of $200, which covers my time to shoot. It does not include any digital files, or products. After you inquire with me about booking your session, we will discuss pricing. My clients generally spend from $1100 - $3500 on their art.
HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION WITH YOU, CHRISTAL? I would love to photograph your family! Please email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org, or fill out the contact form.
